evolution of a mom

We all had ideas about motherhood before we were moms.
We have all developed passions for things we knew nothing about before we were moms.
With every day comes more life experience and knowledge.
Every day we evolve as a mom.
For example, I evolved into something of a 'crunchy' mom, like this:
..
...
..
Do you plan on breast feeding? How long?
Pre baby: Yeah I guess so, I don't know how long, maybe a few months?
Post baby: Heck yeah! I'll (exclusively) nurse them till they self wean even if it takes three years.
..
...
..
What are your thoughts on baby wearing?
Pre baby: Baby wearing? .....oh like Bjorn thingy? Yeah, that looks fun, sure, why not.
Post baby: I can't get ANYTHING done without my wrap, mei tai, and sling, but keep that crotch killing Bjorn away from my babies!
..
...
..
Do you plan on feeding your kids organic foods?
Pre baby: No way, organic is too expensive.
Post baby: 'Pass the raw milk please!'
..
...
..
Would you ever use cloth diapers?
Pre baby: NO WAY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH WILL I EVER USE THOSE NASTY THINGS! (and yes, I really felt THAT (all caps) strongly about it)
Post baby: Hey they're cute and save TONS of money, BRING EM' ON!
..
...
..
What do you think about homeschooling?
Pre baby: Sure, if I want my kids to retire as incompetent, *McDonalds employees!
Post baby: I still can't say 'yes' for sure, but I'm getting closer every day.
I still want to see how pre school at home goes.
*no offense is intended to anyone employed at McDonalds.
..
...
..
How have you evolved as a mom?
Were you the *perfect* mom before you had kids?
Did you evolve into in imperfect mom, who can enjoy her kids imperfections?
If you have made a big evolutionary trip as mom, email me at
maria(dot)cain2(at)gmail(dot)com
I'll post you story of how you have changed and grown as a mom
(and link readers back to your blog).
Even if your change is totally opposite mine.
If you wanted to breastfeed exclusively for a year,
but ended up being totally okay
with formula.
That's fine.
I would still LOVE to hear from you!

  1. So, you mean some people actually remember the pre-baby years?

Oh, I must look for my mind in some tupperware container where I think I stashed it years ago....
