First field trip
We took our first homeschool field trip this week.
Since we moved here John and I have talked about moving to the coast,
that would give John an hour commute though, so I think it'll remain a dream until we can afford a second home. So, ah......never.
We initially set out to find some crabs to observe.
A while back, we found quite a few at these (above) rocks.
I learned MY first lesson, about the beach;
without the weekend crowds to keep the seagulls away,
they will find and eat all the crabs before you get a chance to see any.
We gave up on the crabs, had a snack, and set out to explore what we could.
{some of our fierce competition}
Leave it to Coralee to meet everyone at the beach,
and find another homeschool family to play with.
In a last ditch effort to find some crabs we stopped at this tide pool.
There was a great tide pool display at the Minnesota zoo, and the kids always loved watching the water rush in and out.
It's truly amazing to be able to show them the real thing and watch their little wheels turn,
while observing it.
There were, however, no crabs, or starfish.
Just a stinky, old, decaying seal....yuck!
(we stayed away from that)
